Even we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Gibraltar, we love to celebrate the end of a season and the beginning of another as a transition between richness and a rewarding rest. Thinking of those we love most we feel grateful for everything they give or share with us as well as feeling thankful to be part of a micro-cosmos full of diversity. These are the goodies for today:
Pol Ledent is a self-taught painter based in Belgium. He started with watercolour in 1989, discovering soon oil painting better suited to his style of work. He's taking part in many exhibitions and galleries all over Belgium and his paintings could be find in many private collections in USA, France, China, Scotland, Portugal, Switzerland, Australia, etc. I was impressed by his love of light and colour, his capacity to transform the common world in a dream land mysterious and beautiful. I've chosen only few of his paintings: - "Almond Tress and Lavender" - "Poppies in Provence" - "Voneche" - "Spring in Boiselles" - "Mouzaive" - "Wild Flowers" - "In the Wood" More images and information could be find on Pol Ledent website. One of my favourites bloggers Claire from "A little piece of me" loves to doodle, about everything, with humour, understanding and talent. This is her "International Ladies Collage" via Flickr, the rest will come soon here.
As Friday is my favourite day of the week (especially the evenings when you can relax, reading or watching a good movie, enjoying a glass of wine in lovely company and when you can dream freely no boundaries) I've decided to share some of the goodies I've just discovered on Etsy.
Born in Portugal, Teresa cherishes her liaison with the sea, making it the main character in her images, always seen by the same eyes, but every time so different. A full time architect, Teresa tries to see beyond the camera's reality; her photography is sharp, exciting, fresh and implies love and imagination. Because many times an image could be more expressing and by far away more convincing than any words, I think it is the time to let you in the company of Teresa's incredible sea gallery: - "Arrabida light" - "I am the Sea" - "....if you knew how much I love you" - "Moonlight Fountain" - "Misty River" - "Nenufar". For more, please check Teresa's website. Enjoy !

Yesterday's walk to Alameda Gardens has cheered me up. Leaving in Gibraltar has a lot of advantages and few disadvantages, between them: winter is not very different from a mild autumn, almost everything is stuck on green, it seems nothing dies, and I can't find the common reddish, brown and yellow leaves I grew up with. Still I've managed to take some lovely pictures; here there is a combination of some of them:
The artist of this week is the photographer Ron Jones. He is a member of Allied Artists of West Virginia and has had work exhibited in local galleries. He has won numerous online photography awards and has had images as covers of several statewide magazines. He also has been featured in the international magazines Photoshop Creative, Digital Photo and PCPhoto. He started to use photography as a way to picture the surrounding world as he sees it more than 30 years ago. Discovering the digital technology 10 years ago he started to combine various effects and the result it was amazing. To see some of his beautiful prints, please follow the links: - "Morning Poem" - "Lean On Me" - "A Winter Moment" - "Evening Engagement" - "Glade Creek Mill" - "Spring Rain" - "Autumn Voyage" - "November Moon", these being only few random picks. For more, please explore his website.

It has been a very busy week, and I'm not very sure if I can choose only one moment that I want to share. I think it's easier just to list few of my week's smiles: - the fine, lovely weather which makes people friendlier and happier here; 25 degrees Celsius for November is a true blessing, - every day's walk with my partner, his understanding and humour, - a couple hours trip around the Rock , not forgetting to take my camera for some landscape shots, - a successful interview with the lovely ladies from Art & Crafts, - a buzzing of ideas and tips from my friend Mariam, from over the ocean, - the joy being part of Etsy community, - a bunch of jokes from my friends living in Eastern Europe, strong proof that no matter how difficult times they live, they never forget to laugh, - the weekly chit-chat with my friend Barbara about life and men, he, he, he..., - the beauty and tranquility of my adoptive town, Gibraltar.
I've recently opened my Etsy shop, called Colours Between Seas, name chosen only because I was lucky enough to live close to the Black Sea for many years, then to cross Europe only to settle on the Mediterranean shore, in Gibraltar. I display photographs taken in Romania, UK, Spain and Gibraltar and also soon from North Africa. They are in limited edition, professionally printed on high quality photographic paper and borne from my love for sea, colour, life and art.
My first customer was Mariam, a very talented artist, based in New York. She's just opened a new shop on Imagekind, and her work is frequently featured on different blogs and art sites. More information about her work and where to purchase her art can be find on her lovely blog.
